Hidetaka Miyazaki Reflects on Elden Ring and His Ongoing Quest for the Ultimate Fantasy RPG
Elden Ring is Hidetaka Miyazaki's fantasy RPG that is nearing completion of his vision. FromSoftware president and Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has shared that he is still striving to create his dream fantasy role-playing game.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Miyazaki clarified that despite critical acclaim, Elden Ring, along with other Soulsborne titles, has yet to fully realize the fantasy RPG he envisions.
Miyazaki noted that he is still working on his ideal fantasy RPG, remarking that while Elden Ring isn't quite there yet, it is getting close.
When asked to elaborate on his ideal RPG, Miyazaki couldn't provide specific design details but indicated that knowing in advance what will happen in the game is a significant factor.
He explained that playing the game knowing all the events in advance poses a challenge in achieving his ideal RPG. Ideally, he would prefer someone else to create his dream fantasy game so he could enjoy it purely as a player.
FromSoftware is gearing up for the release of Elden Ring's first expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. The downloadable content (DLC) is set to launch later this week and is confirmed to be the largest expansion so far. It will feature brand-new weapons, equipment, skills, and magic, as well as new boss encounters in a fresh map.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launches on June 21 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
