A New Era of Manga: Cyberpunk Edgerunners Creator Debuts "No\Name" on Shonen Jump Plus
The creator of Cyberpunk Edgerunners is bringing a uniquely thrilling manga, where individuals derive special abilities from their names, to Shonen Jump Plus.
Rafal Jaki, known for his role as the executive producer and showrunner of Netflix's anime-style streaming series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is also the writer behind a captivating manga titled "No\Name." This manga has recently been picked up for serialization by Shonen Jump Plus. Notably, chapters of "No\Name" will be released simultaneously in both English and Japanese, ensuring no delay for English readers awaiting translations.
The artwork for "No\Name" is crafted by the singularly-named artist Gamu. The story delves into the fascinating concept of names holding magical power in a world where a peculiar government agency assigns special abilities to people through their names. It is set in Northern Europe and follows a dark action mystery where supernatural powers are ascribed through a person's government-given name. Central to the plot are a man working with wolf companions and a werebear girl, who are investigating the case of a missing child for the government-operated Naming Agency.
"No\Name" first made its debut online earlier this year but is now being serialized on Shonen Jump Plus, with both English and Japanese versions becoming available on July 31.
Jaki announced on social media that "No\Name," a new manga both written by him and illustrated by Gamu, has been selected for serialization on Shonen Jump Plus, a notable achievement for a non-Japanese team. The manga is set to be launched simultaneously in English and Japanese on July 31, with Jaki expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support.
